Located in Ten Sleep, Wyoming, the Red Reflet is both a working cattle ranch and luxurious resort located on over 27,000 acres in the Wyoming Big Horn Mountains. The landscapes vary from red rimrock to rolling foot hills to aspen forests, limestone canyons, and mountain meadows.

Men's Journal Approved and kid requested, you'll experience a working cattle ranch with outstanding 5-star amenities, superb food and experienced staff.

This is a western experience which will far exceed all your expectations.

Good time to go

The Red Reflet Ranch is an all-inclusive, year-round ranch/resort. Each season has its own special attractions and activities with the highest level of ranch activity taking place during spring and fall months. Appreciate the opportunity to customize your dream adventure. You control how much you get to experience. Owners favorite months are May-June for wild flowers and September-October for buggling wildlife!

Children at the Ranch

Great for children aged 3 and over

Children are more than welcome at Red Reflet Ranch and their needs and desires can be met by kid-friendly staff that will ensure they have the BEST time! At the Ranch we recognize that children are guests along with their families and so they deserve a say in what is planned for them. Whether it is hiking to search for fossils such as belemnites or to find seashells on the seafloor the path is theirs to discover.

Riding horses on trails is usually for those over 8 but children under that age have an indoor and outdoor arena in which to learn or ride. Barrel racing with a champion might be an option or working with cattle, it all depends on the day and riding ability.

The Zip Line is available for children with a 60lb minimum weight.

How about helping the Chef in the Ranch kitchen or at the Outdoor BBQ? There are countless trails on which to ride an ATV (again age permitting) or maybe sports such as Volleyball or Basketball or Swimming or Rock wall climbing?

Ranch chickens are gentle and kids can feed them and gather eggs for the family' breakfast!

It is all about FUN…

Community

The small ranching community of Ten Sleep, Wyoming is a true example of western lifestyle. Located at the base of the Big Horn Mountains, the area is rich in fertile soil and waterways, which make it perfect for raising cattle and sheep.

Near the present site of Casper on the Platte River, there was an Indian camp that the trappers called the Old Sioux Camp. To the north near the present site of Bridger, Montana, on the Clarks Fork River, was another Indian camp; these camps were located on the Indian trade route. Ten Sleep was midway between the two camps, so as Indians measured distance by travel time, Ten Sleep was the tenth night or “sleeps” between the two camps.

The area is full of history and is recognized as being the site of many historic battlegrounds between Indian tribes and the white man. Among those sites are the Bates Battle site, an engagement in which the Arapahoe were defeated by a coalition composed of US troops and the Shoshone. At the Dull Knife site, Dull Knife and Wild hog were defeated leaving the Big Horn Mountains under the control of the white man. Located a few miles south of Ten Sleep is the famous site of the Spring Creek Raid (on the Red Reflet Ranch). Here, cattle ranchers and sheep herders fought a bloody battle over grazing rights. The event eventually led to the end of the bitter rivalry between cattlemen and sheep ranchers.

Scenic wonders such as mountain ranges, canyons, pure mountain streams, and lakes are everywhere. To the southwest of Ten Sleep, Castle Gardens presents unusual stone caricatures of animals, castles and other objects of interest, many of which can be climbed and all offer great photographic moments.

Mealtime is always memorable at the Red Reflet Ranch. Almost everything on the table has been grown or raised on the Ranch, then prepared by our resident executive Chef. Produce comes from our greenhouse, garden and orchard. Our beef is ranch raised, processed in our butcher shop and aged to be savory and tender. We also use organic free-range chickens and eggs. The surrounding area has abundant elk, deer, antelope, pheasant, grouse, and rabbit and meals often include wild game.

One of our traditions is to enjoy the evening meal together. Red Reflet guests are invited to dine with the owners and other guests in the Lodge. However, there are several other options available such as: dinner at the Mountain Cabin, wagon-ride dinner combinations on the upper Ranch, rodeo and barbeque dinners, and even private dinners in the chalet.

A great deal of effort is taken to make every meal tasty, healthful, and unique. Every effort will be made to accommodate your special dietary allergies and needs using our heart-healthy approach to fine dining.

We have an extensive wine cellar, many beers, cold drinks and a well-stocked bar. There are no extra charges for this hospitality.

Local Attractions

DINOSAUR DIG

By special arrangement we can take families to view a dinosaur dig where bones have been found from times dating back 150-180 million years. More than 11 complete dinosaur remains have been unearthed since 2006 at the dig site, which is part of the Morrison Formation near Ten Sleep Wyoming - a veritable treasure trove of virtually intact skeletons. These numbers suggest that this area may have been a watering hole which dried up during a period of drought providing scientists with a rare opportunity to study these ancient creatures. The dig sites are excavated by International Paleontogists and Red Reflet Ranch is pleased to enjoy the privilege of our guests being able to visit. Times for visiting are limited due to the extreme heat in the summer months.

WASHAKIE MUSEUM, WORLAND WYOMING

The exhibits at the Museum offer visitors an opportunity to understand how early settlers came to Wyoming and created lives for themselves with little knowledge of what to expect. There is a major historical photograph collection together with exhibits specifically made for children to ‘touch’ and enjoy. There are ever changing art exhibits and learning programs for a complete grasp of the geology, paleontology and archeology of the region.

CASTLE GARDENS - TEN SLEEP

Attraction:
Sandstones eroded into scenic hoodoos, windows, gulches, cliffs, pedestals and mushroom caps.  Nice, small BLM picnic/campground facility in a secluded location with opportunity to take undefined exploration hikes on ridges and in the adjacent valley.

Geology of Castle Gardens
Castle Gardens is an area of badlands topography seven miles southwest of Tensleep, developed in the upper Cretaceous Teapot Sandstone Member of the Mesaverde Formation. The distinctive mainly white sands of the Teapot Member present a landscape of cliffs and towers that resemble the ramparts of a medieval castle.

This Castle Gardens in Washakie County is not to be confused with the Castle Gardens Petroglyph site about 60 miles south in the Wind River Basin, Fremont County.

Visitor Reviews

Dont just take our word for it, see what visitors like you say...

Spectacular place for a family getaway!

I had the pleasure of sharing 5 fabulous days in March at this gorgeous ranch with my sister, daughter, and two nieces and we all couldn't have been more delighted with everything they had to offer. I wasn't sure how the snowstorm might affect our options, but it didn't slow us down a bit and just made the landscape all the more beautiful. This place is a photographer's paradise! We had so much fun riding the ATVs around the ranch, zip lining, and taking in some movies in the luxury theater. We were lucky enough to see a herd of elk running close to our trail and visited the chicken coop for eggs in the morning. One of the best reasons for visiting, however, is the food and wine!! The chef and pastry chef are superb! They strive to make each meal a "Wow" moment, and they certainly did not disappoint. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Bob and Laurence, who were such gracious and interesting hosts. We were very spoiled during our visit and look forward to returning again soon.
