Sundance Guest Ranch welcomes families and offers plenty for younger guests to enjoy.

Children must be eight or older to join trail rides, while children under eight can experience the fun of ranch life with a parent-led pony ride in the arena before the trail rides head out.

For added peace of mind, child-minding is available for children aged four to seven during ride times on weekdays throughout July and August.

This gives parents the freedom to enjoy their own British Columbia horseback riding adventure while younger children are safely cared for and enjoying their own ranch experience.

Sundance Guest Ranch has a rich history stretching back to 1864, with the ranch welcoming guests for unforgettable British Columbia ranch vacations since 1955.

For more than 70 years, visitors have come to experience the beauty, adventure and freedom of ranch life in the spectacular BC Interior.

The Rowe family’s connection with Sundance Guest Ranch began as guests themselves, returning to the ranch year after year before taking over ownership in 1978.

Today, the family’s passion for Sundance continues into its third generation, with the latest generation helping to run the ranch and carry forward its long-standing tradition of authentic Canadian guest ranch hospitality.

Sundance Guest Ranch keeps trail rides intimate, with groups generally limited to just five or six riders for a more personal and enjoyable horseback riding experience in British Columbia.

Even beginner riders can experience the exhilaration of a horse 'running', if they wish, making every ride an exciting adventure regardless of experience level. 

During the summer, if temperatures become too hot, the afternoon ride is moved to the evening. This keeps both horses and riders comfortable while giving guests the magical opportunity to explore the spectacular BC landscape on horseback as the day begins to cool.

After a day of horseback riding and exploring the spectacular BC Interior, guests can relax in comfortable lodge accommodation at Sundance Guest Ranch.

All rooms are air-conditioned and feature a private bathroom, WiFi and a small fridge.

Most standard rooms have two queen beds, with space for a rollaway bed, while a few larger rooms offer king-size beds and additional amenities.

Booking Policy

All Sundance Guest Ranch rates are quoted in USD and are subject to exchange rates.

Rates are all-inclusive, covering accommodation, meals, horseback riding and use of all ranch facilities. Children under four stay free.

A deposit equivalent to one full day’s rate for every four days booked is required to secure a reservation. Any applicable discounts will be applied to the final payment. Payments can be made by Visa or Mastercard.

Final payment is due 60 days before arrival. Guests receiving the Early Booking Discount may make a one-time, penalty-free change to their dates with at least 90 days’ notice.

Refunds are not offered for unused portions of a package after arrival or once the stay has begun.

All deposits and final payments are non-refundable. However, if part or all of a booking is cancelled, Sundance Guest Ranch will issue a transferable 'Do-Over Credit' for the value of the cancelled portion. The credit is valid for 14 months from the date of the original booking and cannot be applied to bookings that were already in place before the cancellation.

Sundance Guest Ranch is situated on the Thompson River, a popular Canadian fishing destination, giving keen anglers the opportunity to enjoy fishing close to the ranch.

While the ranch does not offer fishing guides, experienced fishermen can hike down to the river or drive to a more accessible fishing spot. The surrounding area also offers numerous beautiful small lakes.

Fishing at Sundance Guest Ranch is particularly suited to spring and fall midweek stays, when conditions are more favourable for this quieter outdoor pursuit.

Take over Sundance Guest Ranch for a truly unforgettable celebration! The ranch offers an intimate and memorable setting for weddings and special events, where family and friends can come together to enjoy the beauty, adventure and relaxed atmosphere of a genuine Canadian guest ranch. 

Flat-rate package includes: Two nights’ accommodation, three meals a day, horseback riding, use of all ranch facilities, and a country-rock DJ and dance.

Guests provide: Flowers, decorations, beverages. 

Weddings: 55 guests max, all guests must stay at the ranch. 

Payment: 25% deposit at booking, plus 25% six months before the event, the remaining balance 60 days before the date.

Guests can step beyond the ranch and explore the fascinating history of Gold Country and British Columbia’s South Cariboo at one of BC’s best small-town museums.

The Ashcroft Museum features authentic, carefully curated exhibits exploring the area’s Indigenous history, early farms and ranches of the Hat Creek Valley, and the establishment and development of Ashcroft.

Guests can discover the fascinating world of modern mining at Highland Valley Copper Mine, one of the largest open-pit copper mines in North America and a remarkable operation said to be visible from space.

Step back in time at Historic Hat Creek Ranch, a unique provincial heritage site where guests can experience the atmosphere of British Columbia’s Gold Rush era.
