Nestled south of Montana's Glacier National Park, on the edge of over 1 Million acres of the Bob Marshall Wilderness, you will find Deep Canyon Guest Ranch.  A private and historic Montana dude ranch, this hidden treasure is your entry into the endless beauty of the spectacular Rocky Mountain Front.  Discover the landscapes that inspired America's greatest artists and authors, away from the common tourist.  Enjoy high-caliber, home-style meals in the authentic Deep Canyon lodge dating back to 1928, and become a part of the quiet, authentic West before it was commercialized.

Your hosts, Chuck and Sharon Blixrud, and their daughter Debra Renteria, will welcome you as family, sharing stories of the region and inviting you into their living history.  You will find no shortage of hospitality, an abundance of breathtaking scenery, and the care that only owner operator establishments can provide.  But, be warned.  You will come a stranger and leave as family and the Rocky Mountain Front and Deep Canyon Guest Ranch will be your home away from home, with your favorite horse waiting for your next visit to our Montana guest ranch.

Deep Canyon Guest Ranch was one of several "dude ranches" that became established during the 1900's as easterners came west to learn and experience the way of life on western ranches, and take part in the riding and punching cattle in a land that was wild and undeveloped.  They insisted on coming back and paying their hosts for their stay with them. Thus, dude ranching was born and has grown because of a love and romance for the west. A love nutured by native and visitor alike.

Chuck and Sharon Blixrud purchased the ranch in 1975 because they needed the grass for their horses.  they leased it out until 1985, at which time they closed it down and began a rebuilding program.  Tearing down many of the old structures and building new ones in their places. Most of the work was done in the winter, and having their own sawmill enabled them to produce their own materials and special pieces that are hard to find on the market today.

As a result of spending the greater part of their lives in Teton Canyon, it has been their desire to keep their place intact.  To ride quiet trails or fish the pristine Teton River and its still pools, feel the unbounded freedom of space and to capture momentarily the spirit of the west.  It is their wish that you will discover a sense of this during your brief stay at the Deep Canyon Guest Ranch.

  • Owner - Chuck and Sharon Blixrud

  • Languages spoken

    english
  • Chuck and Sharon Blixrud have been in the Guest Ranch and Outfitting business since 1959.  Their story began when Chuck was a packer for Sharon's dad at the Seven Lazy P Guest Ranch.  Sharon caught Chuck's eye, and one month after she graduated from high school they were married and purchased the business from her dad. The ranch, built in the 1930's was in much need of repair.  Having a love for building and milling lumber, Chuck spent the next 30 years making beautiful additions to the ranch, as well as building a successful outfitting and ranch business.  It was during those years that they also acquired the Deep Canyon Guest Ranch.  They have recently sold the Seven Lazy P, and are focusing all of their attentions on the Deep Canyon Ranch.
