Make it a memorable couples' affair, with peaceful rides and moonlit nature walks. Or why not plan a teambuilding retreat or family reunion?

At Rancho de los Caballeros there's always something to do, including doing nothing – preferably by the pool.

Good time to go

Starting January, 2024 the Guest Ranch will be open year round

Children at the Ranch

Great for children aged 5 and over

Younger guests are particularly welcome at Los Caballeros, with an entire children's program for guests aged five to 12 included with FAP meal package and is supervised.

The Caballeros Kids Program has been around since 1947 and generations of families have enjoyed the fun.

It allows parents to have some adult time: golfing, riding or just relaxing, while the children enjoy activities geared specifically for their age group.

Ranch counselors meet the children at 8am for breakfast when, after a hearty meal, the group heads to the corral.

Children aged eight and over enjoy a daily trail ride, while younger guests aged seven and under enjoy a ring ride in the corral, where basic horsemanship skills are covered.

Then it's off to swimming, tennis clinics, hiking, scavenger hunts or crafts until it is time for lunch!

After lunch the children are returned to their families:

1pm - 5pm is family time at the ranch where guests can enjoy a family horseback ride or jeep tour, trap and skeet shooting, archery or just a dip in the pool.

The counselors meet the kids again at 5pm for dinner and evenings are filled with games, a marshmallow roast around the campfire, or maybe even line dancing!

Meanwhile the adults can enjoy a relaxing dinner in the dining room.

The Caballeros Kids Program ends at 8pm each night, just in time to tuck everyone in bed for a good night of rest!

Ranch History

Rancho de los Caballeros is a historic ranch resort and golf club situated on 13,300 rideable acres of spectacular Sonoran desert.

The Gant family first opened the ranch doors in 1948, to honor the grand tradition of the Spanish caballeros – the ‘gentleman on horseback’ who explored and settled the Southwest.

The ranch’s rich history has made it what it is today and, while it has evolved over the years, the charm and service remain the same.

The ranch offered guests luxury facilities from the start, the original construction’s 40 main guest rooms complemented by a swimming pool and a tennis court.

In 1951 an airstrip was built to accommodate the private planes of early guests, and the ranch made headlines as the first in Arizona to implement under-floor radiant heating.

More recently, in the fall of 2006, a full-service spa was added, sealing Rancho de los Caballeros as a luxury ranch vacation destination.

Rancho de los Caballeros became involved in cattle ranching in 1953 as a steer operation, later developing into a cow-calf operation with the purchase of 100 cattle from the Tohono O’odham Indian Reservation.

Although the ranch is no longer a working operation, cows still offer guests the chance to work on their cowboy skills with team penning activities in the arena.

In 2021 the ranch transferred ownership to another trio of families who have been multigenerational guests of the ranch for decades.

These three families and a new management team, complete with a three-year plan to upgrade facilities, will continue to deliver exceptional levels of service, while honoring the unique southwestern traditions for which the ranch has become famous.

In this way, the treasured history of Rancho de los Caballeros will be preserved for generations to come.

Teams are broken into groups of three or four guests, plus a cowboy. There are a dozen yearling steers in the arena - your job is to ride in, cut three out of the bunch and, with your teammates, herd them to the other end of the arena into a 12ft by 12ft pen. Visitor Reviews

Dont just take our word for it, see what visitors like you say...

Fun family time - live like cowboys!

We visited the Ranch in March with another family. The kids ages were from 7 to 16. This was our first time at a dude ranch. And even though we aren’t a horsey bunch, everyone had a great time. Our family took advantage of riding, golf, tennis, swimming and the naturalist bird walk and talks. Everything was terrific and hassle free. There was zero stress - even though the ranch was full it didn’t feel crowded. There were always free tennis courts and pool lounge chairs! The riding was really fun and our 7 year old was well coached by the wranglers and was able to do a few trail rides. The wrangler, Caroline, was particularly amazing. The highlight for our group was the cowboy cookout. What an amazing evening in the desert with a campfire, s’mores and terrific music. Service was also terrific and food was very good. We highly recommend it.
