Children at the Ranch

Great for children aged 3 and over

Ages 3-11 ride in our Children's Program. We are one of few ranches out there who offer horseback riding programs for children 3 to 6 years - this is definitely something you'll love that sets us apart. With safety at the top of our mind, your child has the opportunity to fall in love with horses at an early age. Our children's program allows your child to ride the trail while being led by our trusty wranglers. Ride length is specifically devised for the interest of your child.

If your child is able to handle the horse by him or herself - established through our trusted safety-certification program, your child can ride next to a wrangler without being led.

Children do everything that adults do, but at a kids pace! With a master's degree in Special Education, the manager of our children's program is well-equipped to devise the schedules and programs that will engage your child. So, be well-assured that your children will have fun and be safe while particpating in a variety of adventure-driven activities, including horseback riding!

Because we care about the safety of your child, it is mandatory that children under the age of 14 wear a helmet.

Although we do offer a full children's program, we are happy to offer discounts for nannies and grandparents!

What is considered Red Horse Mountain Ranch today has had a rich history of being an important part of the guest ranches in Idaho since 1946.

The same tradition of celebrating life and the western experience lives today. The ranch was purchased by a long-time Idaho company with roots starting in Potlatch, Idaho. The Terteling Company has been a supporter of important conservation concerns like the Peregrine Fund, who today continues conservation on the California Condor. The Terteling Company donated a region near Boise and turned the tide for the Idaho delegation to honor our Idaho military veterans with a state cemetery, giving peace and comfort to the men and women who want - and richly deserve - to be remembered.
