Clinton, British Columbia, Canada: Echo Valley Ranch & Spa, located in the Cariboo region of central British Columbia, Canada's westernmost province, offers a generous blend of quintessential BC activities for discerning travellers, looking for a mix of wilderness meets luxury. This is a place imbued with harmony and contentment, or Sabai Sabai as they say in Thailand. From the 'east meets west' spa experience to the global cuisine emanating from the kitchen, Echo Valley encourages you to breathe deeply, and allow this place to nurture your body and soul.

Situated 435 km (270 miles) by road north of Vancouver, (a short flight or a scenic day's drive), Echo Valley Ranch & Spa offers guests the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors, while sampling the lifestyle of a relaxing world-class spa. There are daily hikes and guided horseback rides along trails winding through the ranch's 160 acres, plus the thousands of acres of adjacent uninhabited crown land beyond. Soft-adventure activities at Echo Valley include climbing 7,400-foot-high Mount Bowman, 4x4 safari drives through the Fraser Canyon, panning for gold, fly-fishing, or even enjoying the medieval art of falconry. Excursions include a game of golf at nearby Tobiano Golf (90 minute drive), or a rafting expedition on the mighty Fraser River.

With more than 50 horses to choose from, many of which are elegant Tennessee Walkers, everyone will bond with a four-legged friend. Guided by experienced and caring wranglers, the ranch caters to all riding levels. Beginners may learn how to groom and saddle a horse, take lessons in the outdoor riding arena, and enjoy trails; advanced riders may pack a lunch and ride the range all day.

And when it's time to slow the pace, the Spa at Echo Valley offers a full range of Western-style and traditional Thai treatments. The Thai spa, housed in the traditional Baan Thai spa pavilion, indulges guests with ancient Thai treatments such as Thai massage, Thai Foot Massage and hot compress treatment, as well as body masques, polishes and scrubs. The Cariboo Spa offers classic European treatments - Swedish and stress relief massage treatments, hydrotherapy and spa body therapies that use mineral salts, seaweed and mud wrap, as well as facials, manicures and hair care. The spa features an indoor pool, fitness centre, sauna and steam rooms, and daily Thai yoga, fitness and meditation classes.

Master Chef Kim Madsen prepares meals in an open kitchen using fresh produce picked from the ranch's organic vegetable and herb garden, as well as meats and poultry from the ranch. A root cellar enables the kitchen to use ranch-grown produce year round. Dining al fresco is a weekly event in the summer, when Chef Madsen takes up residence at the outdoor kitchen and produces gourmet fare that goes way beyond a cowboy cookout. The ranch's wine list features the best of BC wines.

Caring as much for its people as it does for the environment, Echo Valley enjoyed success as an eco-aware destination long before 'living green' became a mainstream movement. From geo-thermal systems that heat the lodge and the spa, to naturally sourced water and zero-waste policies in food purchase and preparation, the ranch constantly strives towards a carbon neutral operation.

Echo Valley Ranch & Spa can accommodate up to 50 guests in its two guest lodges and guest cabins. Summer season runs from April 1 - October 31, 2011 while winter runs Dec 15, 2011 - February 29, 2012.

Echo Valley Ranch & Spa is accessible by car, rail and air, and has a private 3,412-foot runway. Regular connector flights from Vancouver/Calgary to Kamloops run throughout the year. Guests can request transfers to the ranch from all drop-off points.

Echo Valley Ranch & Spa is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH).
